1. What is your mission as General Editor for Mediotiempo.com?

R: I have in my hands the responsibility to feed the information desires of an average of 800,000 people per day. We strive to provide the most immediate responses to request for information with special attention paid to the visual impact of our site.


2. Internet is a very agile media; how do you continually update your content, especially when Mediotiempo.com offers much of its contents “ in real time ”?

R: It all begins with an event such as a football game, a training session or a race. It all starts with an action which if worthy then turns into news. That is the moment when information is prepared, the machinery starts working and all its parts start getting together. We decide the angle from which the note will be built, the coverage is valuated and programmed, and then notes are written and sent to the editorial staff to be finished, published and placed in the right place inside the site, in accordance to its importance. The same process is repeated hundreds of times a day. Sometimes the news lives and dies in just five minutes, but in some other occasions the event coverage requires days, weeks, months or even years in which the chapters of a high interest story are told.

 

3. Which is the process you follow to create the editorial contents for Mediotiempo.com?

R: We were born in the Internet environment, we learned to adapt ourselves to it; it is our essence and the reason why we have an obsession to give an immediate an response. It is truth that a huge amount of information could become unmanageable, but fortunately we have found a very talented team which allows us to accurately manage all types of contents. The key word to us is TEAM . Once our extraordinary journalists and correspondents allows us to be present and plugged in any place in Mexico or the rest of the world where a relevant event to our users could take place. We work hand in hand with international news agencies to complement our contents; we count on the best and most efficient copywriters and co-editors to get the contents illustrated and published immediately and in a clean and pleasant way. Our talented design team ensures our notes will always be presented in the most aesthetically pleasing way, and then a wonderful programming team makes the site always kind, fast and effective… But none is useful without the other; none goes far without its close partner. Is a totally TEAM event.

 

4. Which are the main advantages Mediotiempo.com has to offer versus its closer competitors?

R: One of our main advantages is the fact that we were born with the Internet as I mentioned before, we live here, we grow here and here is our main interest. We are the pioneer sports' site in Mexico and just achieved 10 years in a project which has always had the cyberspace as a stage to act. We don't ask our users to watch a TV channel or to buy a newspaper to complement the information we offer; in Mediotiempo.com we don't keep anything to us. Another important advantage is the way we handle the information or the way we communicate it to our users; we have a golden rule which dictates “Mediotiempo.com is a place to enjoy and not a place to suffer” and the premise applies to all kind of readers from a student, a professional, a football player, a CEO, a racing car driver to a diver, a police or a writer. We believe in having respect for people's private life, enhancing their victories over their failures and in their innocence until they are proved guilty.

 

5. Any comment you would like to share with our clients regarding the becoming World Cup?

R: We are ready, and we have been working directly on the subject since last year. To us, the World Cup started a long time ago and we are anxious to give Mexicans the best coverage they could have in an event like the World Cup. It constitutes a great opportunity to us. However, overall it's a huge responsibility and a duty. We need to correspond in the best way possible to the millions of users who have entrusted us to deliver the most accurate information. We are ready for the World Cup; we have our mind, heart and strength focused to surprise every person who decides to type on their computers' keyboards or in their cell phones m-e-d-i-o-t-i-e-m-p-o-.-c-o-m-.
